My catalog of fanfic is not extensive, but I feel the need to gather it and put it all in one place. I'm also planning to use this as a general index of some of the better bits and pieces that I've posted over the now several years that I've had this journal (hey, I'm a librarian, this is kinda my thing!). So, without further ado:
Supernatural Fanfic:
In chronological order, oldest to most recent, though I've separated the stories I wrote for SPN Summergen and other gift exchanges and challenges. All are Gen, and feature varying amounts of character study, angst, and maybe a little hurt/comfort. I have one longish fic that centers on Sam and Dean, a couple of short bunker fics. I'll admit, though, that I am fascinated by the blank spaces that the show intentionally leaves, and the characters that inhabit their own stories before and/or after encountering the Winchesters. So some of these fics focus on people like Charlie, Lisa, and other memorable characters.
You Can't Always Get What You Want
This takes place after 10x3, Soul Survivor. After Sam heals Dean, how do they begin to heal the rift between them? A small gift might hold big answers. AKA When the Mark met the Amulet OR Dean and Sammy's post-demon cure road trip, through the Great Plains to a legendary landmark, and then into a place "behind the curtain".
Never Have to Go to War No More
There's never enough time to say goodbye. Coda to 10x21, Dark Dynasty, Charlie's POV.
Nowhere Man
In spite of a rocky year, Lisa Braeden and her son are now back in Cicero and happy. Except for the missing puzzle pieces in her memories. Except for when things don't make sense. Except for the feeling that someone is watching-or maybe watching out for them.
Sparks Dancing in the Darkness
The world is fading into darkness. The whole world. Spoilers for 11X23. (Not a coda or missing scene; I think this could be seen as a montage, perhaps set to the tune "Don't Let the Sun Catch you Crying". It was inspired by the desire to know how other characters, Winchester friends and foes, might experience the end.) UPDATE: This little fic is now graced with some beautiful artwork, courtesy of twisted_slinky and the Matchmaker Challenge at
quicky_bang, and I just want to say a big THANK YOU for this lovely watercolor panel! Check it out down below.
She Waits
"She is gleaming chrome and carefully polished black steel and she sits with docile patience in the dark." A ficlet, or a snapshot, really, inspired by a conversation between my husband and me about how the series should end. Title is borrowed from Louden Swain.
Out of the Ashes
The fae queen welcomed the angel, and her unique problem, into her court. And Anna knew the answer to her troubles would carry a high price-was she willing to pay it?
Ghost Riders. (Link to A03).
Another first person, this is a crossover with Seanan McGuire's Ghost Roads series about a young girl who becomes a hitchhiking ghost as well as a psychopomp and guardian to travelers after she is run off the road and killed on her way to meet her prom date. There are two books in the series so far, and I highly recommend them to SPN fans. I feel like Dean and his Baby would fit very well in Rose Marshall's world, and this story came from a desire to see how that might play out. Let me know what you think!
The road dropped me in his path, and in spite of my better judgement, I got into his beautiful car. Guess it was my night to save Dean Winchester.
Writing Challenges: SPN Summergen Stories
My favorite gift challenge! I've received wonderful, surprising works, and for my part have found that the prompts my recipients asked for opened up stories that I otherwise would never have written. I'm rather proud of the independent little buggers.
2016: Sam and Dean at the Movies
Written for theymp whose prompt was along the lines of the boys watch a horror movie and have a lot of fun with it--until they don't. (I've never posted this one on my own page. It was fun to write, but it is also a story I'd love to go back to and expand upon, maybe double-check the timestamps I used--)
2017: Slivers
I have lived a long time, and had few visitors to my little farmhouse. Some are more welcome than others, but all of them want something from me. A little demon backstory for the prompt: "When Jess and Mary were killed, their stomachs were sliced open. What's the story there?" which took some weird turns! Spoilers to 12X12.
2018: Aces and Eights After the Angel Apocalypse, stories might not seem all that important when faced with surviving day to day. But Bobby knows that some stories still need to be told. What better way to keep someone alive, even after they're gone? Written for were_lemur's prompt "Let some of the other hunters we've met have the spotlight." First person POV.
2019: To Thaw Cold Fear My giftee alyndra gave me a great prompt, "Jack starts to hear everyone's thoughts and things get uncomfortable." The story takes place after 14x15, "Peace of Mind", and finds Jack attempting to help his friends and find peace in the night.
2020: Riders on the Storm I wrote this for canonisrelative, who asked for some Eileen Leahy POV. Summergen is my absolute favorite fandom event, and the participants outdid themselves this year!
When the bright light broke through, a crack in the ceiling, a lighter flare in the darkness, she didn’t believe it at first. It was a trick, a cruel joke, made to raise hopes and then crush them again. But the light grew stronger, became tinged with purple and red, and she saw some of the prisoners around her grow still. Light spoilers for SPN Season 12 and 15.
2021: The Fighter Still Remains red_b_rackham gave me some beautiful prompts, many centering on outside POV and supporting characters. It's probably not a surprise, though, that I chose Bobby Singer as my narrator. This is a pair of scenes, one taking place between the end of Seasons 1 & 2, the second after the series conclusion.
Connections can be made in the quiet moments, between the swing of the punching bag and the next jab. OR Two Bobbys, One Dean, and the lifetimes of stories that separate them and bring them together.
2022: Such a Lovely Face For Broken_Cinders, a twist on the prompt, "Dean gets drunk and starts telling more and more outrageous stories to a group of locals at a dive bar". I had the setting and the time period--pre-series, Stanford Era--and the main villain--a young woman in a sparkly tank top who is hiding very ulterior motives, but a conversation with my husband helped pull everything together. Throw in the idea of members of the fae in modern Palo Alto, and you might end up something like this!
It was the 12th bar Sam Winchester had walked into that day, looking for his college roommate Brady. He wasn't expecting to run into Dean, right there in Palo Alto, or to find his older brother flirting with a beautiful woman and spilling family secrets.
Writing Challenges: SPNSpringFling Story
2019 was my first year for this gift exchange, and it was amazing to me, how much great work is done in such a short amount of time! It was a lot of fun, both to give (even though I'm not a fast writer--) and to receive.
2019: Let Them Leave You Up in the Air Jack and Sam, stargazing in the quiet night after the fight in the church, a coda to 13x23. Written for saintsammy
2020: Home Free A little Rowena/Sam flirtation, a little spellwork--a little difficulty for Rowena, a little comeuppance. Takes place after 13x12, "Various and Sundry Villains," written for themegalosaurus
Writing Challenges: SPN Reversebang
2019: My Father's House Another first for 2019, my first time participating in this event. There was so much wonderful art to choose, and it was difficult to decide. But when I saw twisted_slinky's lovely piece, featuring Bobby and young Sam and Dean gazing at the headstone, it spoke to me--and I knew that I could write something for it. Bobby and I have history at this point, after all.
Bobby's house wasn't haunted. At least, it wasn't, until he met the Winchester boys, who have a way of stirring things up and raising ghosts that he'd spent a lifetime burying. (Spoilers for Bobby's backstory, especially 3x10, Dream a Little Dream of Me, and 7x10, Death's Door.)
2020: The Path of the Dragon This work was inspired by a mysterious piece by tx_devilorangel as part of 2020's SPN Reversebang. The art, featuring the Winchesters in a forest with a pair of sinister eyes looming over them, sent my imagination off in a number of different directions, but I finally settled on this path thanks to my husband, who looked at the image and immediately said, "Purgatory!" He is my first reader and beta, so how could I refuse? The setting merged with the title of the piece, which is now the title of the story, and ultimately led here. So if you like it, you have TxDorA and my husband to thank--as I do.
“Every seeker approaches the father on his or her own path.” Trust a reaper to take that piece of advice as unbreakable law. OR In which Sam and Dean run an errand for the reapers, in order to help Jack with his mission to take out Chuck. It's just a quick trip to Purgatory to find a dragon's lair. What could go wrong? Set in between "Galaxy Brain" and "Destiny's Child".
(Fic) Writer Picks the Music: An SPN Playlist
This is a project which, while not highly original, I've contemplated for quite a while. Building a song playlist was one of the first things I did as a Supernatural fan, and what began as a 40-song compilation pulled directly from the show soundtrack, is now more than twice that length, and includes songs that were used as titles, sung at conventions, and a few that were used in fanvids. My idea is to start at the beginning of my list and go through in order. That said, if anyone has ideas for characters paired with songs, or prompt requests, I'm all ears!
1: CrossRoad Blues
John went to the crossroads.
2: The Family Business/Elegy for John
Those Winchesters would be the death of him, Bobby Singer just knew it. And yet his door would always be open to them.
3: Carry On
Billie said it was over, and Sam believed her. So how does he carry on?
4: (Don't Fear) The Reaper
The Winchesters have a reputation, sure. But it wasn't always clear how important-some say destructive-they would turn out to be.
SPN & Other Cons:
We've attended two Creation Cons, and I wrote a little bit about each one. I'm also tagging on a little, hopefully amusing, bit I wrote about attending a local con with my sons.
SPN VanCon 2015: The Concert
VanCon 2015: Photo Ops - Jensen (Now with the photo added, for what it's worth!)
VanCon 2015: Photo Ops - Jared (See above--I added this one, too!)

Adventures in Hobbies - Painting Props and Miniatures:
Before I went back to work in a library, I spent the odd "Kids are napping" hour learning how to paint miniatures. (Yes, it's as dorky as it sounds, but also so satisfying when it goes well!) Here are some stories and pictures related to this hobby of mine.
