In your own space, create a wishlist

-I'd love to have fanart for one of my stories, of course. Maybe for "You Can't Always Get What You Want"? This was my first fic, and centers on a sort of rivalry between the Mark of Cain and the Samulet. Here's the link: https://tyrsibs.livejournal.com/10479.html

-The mod post mentions a new fandom as a possibility, and that intrigues me. While SPN will always have my heart, are there other fandoms out there that might fill the hole it left? Recs would be great!

-Along that same line, any recommendations for great book series in the urban fantasy or high fantasy realms? I've almost caught up on Dresden Files, have read The Name of the Wind, and just started Seanan McGuire's October Daye series. I know there's a lot out there--what's your favorite?

-Recs for a fanfic Big Bang or challenge to attempt? I've participated in Spring Fling, Summergen, and the Reversebang in the Supernatural fandom, and I've set myself a goal of working on a new challenge this year. I write genfic, somewhat angsty, and I like to focus on the characters and creepy atmosphere. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance--I hope to talk to some of you about these rec requests!

Hi, everyone!

I'd like to pick your brains for just a moment. As part of my job, I've been creating videos about fandoms--I've interviewed a cosplayer on our Library staff, and the art director of our local arthouse cinema, among other subjects (I reached out to Lynn Zubernis, too, and am hoping to talk to her next week!)

I've been toying with the idea of doing a short piece on fanworks, but I don't want to do the typical history of, or defense of, sort of thing. That's been done a lot. I'd like to talk about it from the fan's perspective. And you are the fan community that I know and love, so I'd love it if you were able to give me a few of your thoughts.

My general idea is to interpose some quotes with images, rather than doing an interview or documentary style. I will happily credit your blogs, if you like, or just as happily keep you anonymous, if I use a quote from you. If you have a moment, please think about--

What fandom first inspired you to seek out fanworks?
What was your first fanwork?
Does your process with fic or fanart differ from your other creative endeavors?
What draws you to fanworks?
What's your favorite genre in fanworks?

These are just prompts, of course. I'm interested in anything you might like to tell me about your experiences in the fanfic & fanart worlds.

Thanks for reading! I hope to hear from you, and when the project is complete, I will post it to my blog. <3

I participated in Summergen last year, and this was my gift. I love so much about this illustration--the expressions, the colors, Sam's floppy hair--but most of all, I love the ghostly feet in the foreground. To me it's a good a piece as anything I've seen in a graphic novel; in fact, it reminds me of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's Locke and Key series. I immediately wanted to write more of the story!

So when I had the chance to attend Seacon this year, I decided to bring it to have the J's sign. They both enjoyed it. yuriookino, this is really for you! Thank you for such a wonderful image--I hope you enjoy the autographs.
